E(lephant): A live performance by Kasabian made me realise they are very much influenced by music from India. The way they use certain sounds and scales in their music is a typical Indian but modern style. This made me want to experiment with the scales, rhythms and dissonant sounds of India, but in a contemporary way, mixing traditional sounds in a contrastful perception. The colourfull Indian elephant was the perfect methaphor for combining the old with the new.
